This I Believe: 3

Similar to the NPR broadcasts only in title...

In this, a third in a series of posts, I am going to write about something that I believe to be true. It may be my mother told me that it was true; it may be that I read it on the Internet; it may be something that I saw with my own eyes, but somehow, somewhere, I've picked it up along the way. Dispute or support the reality, likelihood, or feasibility of it in your comments.

And No Fair researching the matter before you come to the table. That just wouldn't be as much fun.
I'm a librarian. I can find information on anything and twice, but I'd like to hear about your gut instinct.

This I believe:

I believe that you should leave the heels of the store-bought bread loaf in the package of bread until The Very End. It's sort of upsetting to me if it doesn't happen this way. For example, last night, F opened a new package of bread. He was eating the heel. How unsettling. I'm still upset.

i agree. i think it keeps the bread fresher. i like the heel but it has to be eaten last.

I think it depends on the bread. If it's a very yummy bread, I love the heel all toasted and warm.

If it's plain old sandwich bread, I can leave the heel till the very end.

I don't even like to touch the heel. In any form. Yuck. I always avoid it in the bag. I knock it over with the sides of the plastic bag, then lift the slice I want up and over so as not to come in contact with it so it doesn't taint the good piece. In fact, I usually avoid the first 2 pieces of bread. The 2nd piece provides a buffer for the rest of the loaf.

I think this is funny!!! Talk about "sweating the small stuff" lol
I guess it's a matter of taste, or how you were brought up???

I think it's great if someone (other than me) likes the heel. Usually I end up taking my leftover bread to my friend for her chickens.
