Thumb-toes

In the bath, Big T said, "Mommy. Mommy. Wash my thumb-toes."

Not a "green" post!

DISCLAIMER: The following post is about a great deal of trash.

There were only 2 problems in this joyous life of ours. 1.) Our biggest 45 gallon trash can was overflowing every. single. week and 2.) we had to store it in our garage every. single. day.

We had to accept its stinking, hulking mass in our garage because we live in a wind tunnel and it would blow all around the yard. We had to welcome its reeking body into our lives, and sidestep by it in the garage all the while we had to pile the trash up around it, as well as in it, because it was too small.
Each week, the guys had to gather up all the trash that didn't fit inside the can itself, and strategically place it at the curb, hoping against hope, that the winds wouldn't get too strong and blow the extra trash into the yard and street. Trash night involved extra boxes and packing tape.
Why was I putting up with this?
I called our trash company. They don't accept trash cans over 45 gallons and they don't accept the big "toter" trash cans. The men at that company manually pick up each and every can and dump it in the back of the truck...I felt sympathy and great respect for them. BUT, I also promptly discontinued service and had the gall to ask them who did accept the "toter" trash cans.

The new can was delivered today! On earth day! It's big! It's blue! It is 99 gallons of pure bliss! Big F actually phoned me to report the arrival of the big can! He was delighted! I am delighted! We can fit our old can inside the new can, and it will be hauled away next week! We have no intention of reducing our household waste any further at this time! We are feeding the chickens household scraps and are composting other waste! That should be good enough for right now! As you can see, I have a little guilt about our impact on the environment! Is my guilt enough for me to return home this evening and discontinue the use of the new, big, blue can? No!

As far as I'm concerned, our life is now perfect.

Same song, high speed kid

All hopped up on candy and chocolate eggs.

Song 1 video

This isn't very long. If I knew how to edit video, it would be even shorter, because I would edit the part where he's tossing the paper towel off the table.

He learned this song a few days ago. I thought he's been telling me he loves me, but it turns out he's been practicing the song.

"I'm a Mother too."

F watches the babies 2 days a week. It was part of the deal when we got married with intent to have children. My Mom worked and my Dad watched me when I was little, therefore, father/kid bonding is a priority of mine, which F agrees with. F has a really good bond with all the kids.

We watched a movie version of the Passion of the Christ. For those of you not familiar, there is a part in the Passion where Mary goes to Jesus as he has fallen. In the movie, there is a flashback to Mary running towards Jesus when he has fallen as a little boy. It made me cry.

Later that evening I was remarking to F how I thought that was a very powerful part of the movie, perhaps the most powerful part of all. My husband responded, sadly, with tears in his eyes, "I understand. It was so sad. I'm a mother too, you know."

"I'm a mother too." Mother, in his case, meaning "emotionally bonded" and "in love". How funny that he felt the need to claim that title to describe his love for the children.
